Joan Mir targets a top five finish at the Dutch MotoGP in Assen.
The 2020 world champion achieved a season-best result last weekend at Brno, finishing fifth.

What's the target?

Joan Mir and Luca Marini aim to solidify Honda's recent performances with another top five result.

Why it matters for Joan Mir

Mir believes Honda's potential warrants a top five position, despite no Honda rider achieving this at Assen since 2019.

What comes next?

Mir said: "Feeling good heading to Assen, which looks to be a really hot weekend, I think for sure the hottest weekend there!"

The circuit is unique and different from Brno and Hungary, but Mir thinks they can continue to show their potential.
He added: "It's a circuit where a lot of different riders and bikes have been strong in the past and if we can repeat our Czech weekend, I know the top five is possible."

Luca Marini has achieved six top ten results through the opening nine rounds and is hopeful of a big result at Assen.
Marini said: "It's clear what our objective for the weekend is: be strong on Friday afternoon."

Assen is a circuit that can be quite complicated to overtake, so arriving in the first four rows from the start will make their lives easier.
Marini's side of the Honda HRC Castrol team has been working great the last few weekends to keep on improving the bike.

The weather is expected to be hot, which could change things, as in the past it was more likely to have rain in Assen.
Mir and Marini will look to make the most of this weekend and achieve their ambitious target.

The Dutch MotoGP takes place on a challenging circuit with limited overtaking opportunities.
But Mir is feeling good and thinks they can continue to show their potential.

Mir and Marini will face tough competition from other riders and teams.
But they are hopeful of a big result at Assen and will look to make the most of this weekend.

The top five finish is an ambitious target, but Mir believes it's possible.
He said: "We've had some bad luck the last few years, but the good thing about luck is it always can change!
